CipherLane is a secure messaging app with seed-based identity and encrypted chat sessions.
Why it feels different
Your identity can be based on a recovery seed instead of phone-only signup.
Chat keys are negotiated between peers before messages are exchanged.
Local encrypted seed storage helps restore access on your device.
You can share connect details with a friend link.

Cloud-provider dependent options
On large social platforms, privacy settings are policy-driven. Here, privacy starts in identity design.
Future-security messaging is about readiness: protect current traffic with modern controls while preparing migration paths.
Seed recovery can reduce dependence on SIM, SMS, or centralized account recovery channels.
Operational metadata is often as sensitive as message content; minimizing collection lowers exposure risk.
Backups should preserve confidentiality with user-controlled secrets, not only account-level access.

What is a seed?
A seed is your private recovery phrase. It is the root secret that creates your identity in CipherLane.
Your identity ID is derived from the seed.
If you install on a new device, restoring the same seed restores your identity.
Anyone with your seed can take over your identity, so keep it private.
If the seed is lost and not backed up, recovery may not be possible.
Security reminder: Never share your seed in chat, email, screenshots, or cloud notes without encryption.
How to create the seed
Follow these steps in Step 1 - Seed Identity:
Tap Generate Seed to create a new 12-word recovery phrase.
Review and safely store the phrase offline.
Set a passphrase in Seed passphrase and tap Save Encrypted.
Check that the derived identity appears in You.
If you already have a phrase, use Restore From Phrase instead of Generate Seed.
Important: Do not share your seed phrase. Loss of the seed can prevent identity recovery.
